Trust, institutions and economic growth in Belarus

Trust in society promotes cooperative behaviour outside the immediate neighbourhood and is to a certain extent associated with socio-economic development. This paper studies the current level and dynamics of the development of trust in the Belarusian society, the mutual influence of trust and the quality of institutions, as well as the importance of trust on the path to achieving economic growth. It also presents a number of mechanisms that facilitate social trust.
